Contest Rules

1. Mandeville Idol is a talent competition for ages 9 - 17. Contestant must be at least 9 years old by July 1, 2011, and have not reached their 18th birthday by July 1, 2011.
2. Competition is open for solo vocal talents only.
3. Contestants are not eligible if they have received money for performing prior to the contest.
4. Applications may be completed on the festival website www.seafoodfest.com, or mailed to P. O. Box 1000, Mandeville LA 70470. Entry fee of $50 must accompany the application. Applications are due no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, July 1, 2011.
5. A prescreening CD must be received no later than 5:00 pm on Friday, July 1, 2011.
6. Parental consent will be required, and they will also be required to sign Hold Harmless and Publicity Release statements.
7. Contest will consist of two divisions: Jr. Division for ages 9 - 12; Sr. Division for ages 13 - 17. Twenty-five (25) contestants in each division will be selected during the pre-screening process to enter the contest. Those applicants who are not selected will have their entry fee of $50.00 refunded.
8. Each contestant will receive free entry into the Park for the contest, and will receive two (2) additional tickets.
9. First place in each division will receive $500. Top three winners in each division will receive a plaque.
10. Performance CD must be provided no later than 1 hour prior to contest. Performance CD's will not be returned.
11. The top three performers in each division will be decided by a panel of three (3) independent judges.
12. For the purposes of judging, contestants will be introduced by first name only. When the judges retire to make their decision, the contestants will be introduced again, with parent and school names being announced.
13. Judging will consist of 50 possible points, with 10 points each being possible in each of the following categories: Performance, Technique; Intonation; Diction; and Stage Presence. Contestants are ranked by the total points of the three judges. Critiques will not be available on the day of the contest, but will be sent to the contestants within two weeks of the Seafood Festival.
14. Dates/times of the competitions will be posted on the Seafood Festival website as soon as they are available.
