It's A Beautiful Day" when the "Quicksilver Messenger Service" alerts you to the arrival of "Jefferson Starship" to kick of the July 4th weekend at the Mandeville Seafood Festival, transporting most of the late Janis Joplin's band "Big Brother & The Holding Company" for a mega reunion of bands that comprised one of Louisiana's first love fests.

Billed as a "40th Anniversary Celebration" -- technically it could be the 39th, 40th or 41st - depending on interpretation, as the first Summer of Love wave moved through America from 1967 through 1969 spawning on both coasts from San Francisco to Woodstock. New Orleans was dosed in 1969 when the New Orleans Pop Festival featured both Janis and "It's A Beautiful Day" along with many other psychedelic voices of the 60s and 70s.

The celebration kicks off the weekend-long festival on Thursday, July 3, 2008.

The Mandeville Seafood Festival has enlisted Trey Merrill Presents to bring in national acts to help celebrate the Seafood Fests move to Fontainebleau State Park on Hwy 190 just outside Mandeville, Louisiana.
